Simple Way To Find Advertisers and Publishers

I was at the LeadsCon conference in Las Vegas a few weeks ago, and I was so inspired by the people I met at the event that I recorded this episode there. 

What actually inspired me? A ton of opportunities. 

– To be around so many people in a short period of time 

– To meet them in person

– To present them your ideas

– To build important relationships

– To take a relationship to the next level

– To get a new idea that you’ll work on in the future

– To monetize the whole experience when the time comes

These are some of the points I’m diving into this episode.

A Ton of Opportunities

 

LeadsCon in Las Vegas is the premier yearly gathering of performance marketers and lead gen professionals from around the world. 

That is the conference where a couple of thousands of experts in lead generation business meet to navigate the future of the industry. Executive-level speakers provide new strategies and unique insights to start nurturing and converting more quality leads.

Such conferences are the first thing that crosses my mind when people ask me what to do to find buyers / some placements (And they ask me this all the time.) Because a lot of this business is all about relationships. 

However, you can’t expect to build some new relationships just by showing up at an event and randomly asking people if they want to do business with you. Even if you’re lucky enough to make some connections that way, it’s not how you should do that.

Before coming to a conference, you should set up meetings ahead of time. Also, you should have some plan of what you’re looking for. 

 

Planning a Conference

 

So you first research who would be there, what company representatives and CEOs you may meet, and then try to arrange meetings with people you can potentially do business with.

If you’re looking for advertisers, you will look to see who’s attending the conference and try to contact some of them ahead of time. You may get them excited for a meeting by sending them a quick presentation of the opportunity you’re offering to them to get traffic.

Suppose you’re an advertiser and you’re looking for traffic. In that case, you’d be looking for different types of publishers, media buyers, people who have email lists, or other players you can connect with to drive high-quality leads.

Whatever your reason might be, the point is that you have an opportunity to be around so many potential business partners in a short period of time. There are so many people, billions of dollars that are being exchanged, and a ton of deals being done at these shows.

And if you do it in a productive way, when you know what you’re looking for and what you need, you can set up those meetings and present the opportunities you can offer to the right people.

When planning meetings, you should take into account time management. When I execute meetings at such events, I like to think in terms of cost per minute. How many meetings can I set up in a particular period of time? I used to set up appointments every 30 minutes.

But what often happened is that between two meetings, I’d bump into someone from the industry that I hadn’t seen or not really working with. Then we would start talking, the conversation would begin sparkling with great ideas, and the next I know is – I’m late for the next meeting.

 

Make an Elevator Pitch 

 

Now when I have some experience behind me, I recommend leaving yourself a little bit of time for those randoms. And not only those randoms.

You should also be ready if you bump into somebody you don’t know, but get 15-20 seconds to tell them precisely what to do. It’s called an elevator pitch because it should be short enough to present your background and experience during a brief elevator ride.

So, prepare your statement using the formula “I help X with Y by Z, so that Q.”

I help somebody with a problem by the solution so that they can get a particular result. As simple as that. The point is to quickly tell people what you do, how you do it, why you’re at the conference, and if it makes sense for them to work with you.

 

It’s All About Relationships

 

However, you don’t even need to make any business deal – events like this are also a magnificent chance to build relationships you may monetize in some way in the future. 

These days, a lot of business is done over the internet. People are emailing, texting each other, or DM each other. However, I always like to pick up the phone or try to do a Zoom because I want to see and get to know the person I do business with. 

But when you meet somebody in person, the relationship goes to another level. It gets more personal. You start to become friendly with the person. And slowly but surely, that relationship will ascend.

Even if somebody was a bit cold to you and didn’t want to work with you in the beginning, after meeting in person, they start to warm up to you, especially if you hit it off. 

I encourage all you guys looking to get into this business to try to show up at some of these events. I know it’s intimidating, but you got to take the first step and get there to see what it’s all about. 

– See what the industry is all about 

– See the types of people who are there 

– See if you like it

– See if you like the people who come there

Just put yourself out there – don’t lock yourself in the room. And slowly but surely, I promise you, it gets easier and better each time.

Hey, what’s up everybody, Eric’s here. Welcome to my channel. I’m coming from Las Vegas right now to talk to you guys. And we’re gonna go over a little thing that you do at conferences like this in place, called LeadsCon in Las Vegas, the next few days, where buyers, sellers, be talked about different ways they can work together.

I spent the last 17 years building my eight-figure performance business without using any of my own money, working with some of the most brilliant direct response marketers in the world today. Now I’m looking for entrepreneurs to join my affiliate army built on ethics, transparency, and good old hard work. Join me to change the perception of how people view the greatest business in the world, affiliate marketing, and follow along as I learn, apply, and share performance marketing strategies, working with some of the brightest people on the planet. My name is Eric Beer, and welcome to the Performance Marketer podcast.

People ask me all the time on what do I do find buyers find some placements, right? One way to do it is you can go to conferences, a lot of this business is all about relationships. So, we’ve come to these conferences, we’ve set up meetings ahead of time, ahead of time. So, that you have a plan in place for meeting people, and then you have some plan of what you’re looking for. So, if you’re somebody looking for advertisers, you would look to see who’s attending and try to set up some meetings ahead of time to speak to some of these advertisers, perhaps you send some things to them ahead of time, letting their mouth have all the opportunity that is there for them to have been getting traffic for them, right? If you’ve been able to generate leads for them that they can buy, and get all excited, right? If you’re an advertiser, and you’re looking for traffic, then you’d be looking for different types of publishers, whether it’s you’re looking for someone who’s buying media on Google or Facebook... If you’re a media buyer, you might want to work for people that have email lists, or perhaps you’re looking to get your artwork placed, seeing affiliates. Whatever that is, the point is, is that you come to this place, and you have an opportunity to be around so many people in this short period of time, right, you can normally take a trip to fly to Las Vegas to meet one company, right. And it’s great you meet with one company could be here for a day to whatever. But when you’re in one of these conferences, there’s so many people there’s so much opportunity there’s billions of dollars that are being exchanged, their deals being done at this show. And if you do it the right way, in a productive way where you know what you’re looking for, you know what you’re looking for, to show what you need, you can set up those meetings, and you can have back-to-back. And so, you want to come prepared, you don’t want to come with an idea of some things that you’re going to be able to present them, show them opportunities. But you’re also going to want to be able to assist just relationship you want to meet. Somebody see you see what you’re about, you can get a feel for somebody’s character needs, right. And relationships go a really long way. A lot of this, this business is done over the internet, online, where people are emailing, or they’re texting fellow pm and each other. And I always like to just one pick up the phone, to try to do a zoom see each other to get to know each other. But when you meet somebody in person, the relationship goes to another level, it’s it gets more personal, you start to become friendly with the person. And slowly but surely that relationship will ascend and where maybe somebody was a bit cold to you where they didn’t want to work with you in the beginning. Now they start to warm up to you, especially if you guys hit it off, right. So, you come with a plan. You set it up early, then go you execute, you go back to back to back to back, you do as many as you can, right? I like to think of it as like a cost per minute when I’m here. You know, it’s like, how many meetings can I have bumped into you set up some. But you also want to leave some open because what happens is a lot of this means even in the past, I set up meetings every 30 minutes, right. And I know some people in the industry, but as I’m walking from meeting to meeting, I’ll bump into some people that I haven’t seen or not really working with. But then we see each other and just start talking and things start sparkling and then I’m late to the next meeting. And then it’s just start late, just kind of like everything just kind of gets screwed up the day. So, you want to leave yourself a little bit of time for that run-in person that you’re gonna bump into the randoms and just put yourself out there, don’t lock yourself in the room. Just be you. Don’t be afraid. Just go out there and he talked to people but, you know, I encourage all you guys out there that are looking to get into this business to try to show up some events. And I know it’s intimidating, but you got to take the first step and get there. See what it’s all about. See what the industry is all about. See the types of people that are there? See if you like it, right? So, if you like the people that are there, and slowly but surely, I promise you, it gets easier and better each time. And if you prepare yourself ahead of time, I guess, where you identify who’s coming, and you get meeting set up, before you get here, you don’t have to rely as much and just bumping into people and saying, like, awkwardly, Hey, you want to you want to do business together? No, that’s not the way you do. If you do that, and you find somebody, that’s awesome, that’s a walk, that’s better. But you should have a plan when you come in, you should be prepared if you bump to somebody in the elevator, and you have 15 to 20 seconds to talk to somebody and tell them exactly what to do. You want to have a mission statement down and prepare, I help x with y, right? I help somebody with a problem by the solution so that they can get that result. Right. So, as simple as that, right. And you can do that. And remember that in your mind, you can quickly tell people what you do, how you do it, why you’re here, and if it makes sense for them to work with you. So, with that said, guys, that’s a little tip for you guys on while I’m here in Vegas, I’ll try to do some more videos for you as I’m here. To give you guys a better idea. Maybe I can make videos and stuff. I’m going to meetings or conferences. Guys get a better theory of what it’s all about. Yeah, and it’s fun to see Vegas. That’s just a plus.
